Throughout the years, the TRF Kiwanis Club has supported the Northrop Park located on the north side of town. With generous donations from organizations and folks in the community along with our fundraising efforts, we have accomplished making the park a great place for families and children of Thief River Falls.
We’d like to share our most recent completed project “Sidewalks for Northrop”. This project made the park more accessible to those handicapped individuals and families with strollers and wagons. It can be difficult to maneuver through the grass.
We’d like to thank all those that helped us achieve that goal, there were many and we appreciate all.
Our current project at Northrop Park is an ADA compliant wheelchair suspension swing. We originally set out raising funds and thought we were so close to our goal until we realize we had more to go…a lot more. We need to raise about $100,000 and will be fundraising and looking for donations and sponsorships and applying for grants. It is a lofty goal but will be so worth it to watch someone swing for the first time! Be sure to look for our fundraising events and come support this great project!
